This past week the ERTA has launched a brochure listing 70 different entertainment proposals.
The Portugal Masters, the Le Mans Series, Fatacil, Olhão’s seafood festival, Silves and Castro Marim’s Medieval Fairs, and concerts by international singers Pablo Alborán, Mariza, Ivete Sangalo and Carminho are but a few of the events listed in the brochure for visitors to enjoy while in the region.
Spreading right up to the New Year, the events provide entertainment for some of the most important periods on the regional calendar.
António Pina, head of the ERTA, told Lusa News Agency that the project, named ‘Algarve with Events’, is a sort of "umbrella under which a great and high quality events of various genres, such as emotion, fun, flavours, tradition and sounds are covered."
From an Algarve entertainment point-of-view, the Algarve is highly recommended", he stressed, adding that the region’s "entrepreneurs are doing their best to make sure the Algarve has at least the same number of tourists as it had last year."
The bilingual events catalogue will also be available in full on the ERTA’s website.
António Pina reiterated that the programme is "100 percent Algarvean" and was put together in close collaboration with councils and private entities."
The ERTA has invested €7,500 of its own cash in the project, the publishing of the brochure being sponsored by national airport management company ANA.
The original ‘Allgarve’ entertainment programme was scrapped by the government in January this year after five years in existence.
Last year that programme had a budget of €2.9 million, while in 2010 it was given a cash flow of €4.6 million.
