During the weeklong initiative, organised by the butchers sector in partnership with Portimão’s Hotel and Tourism School, there will be culinary demonstrations and tastings between 9am and 12.30pm each day.
Cooking workshops will also be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 6pm, and anyone wishing to participate should register at one of the butchers in the market place.
Pork loin, ribs, belly pork, chops and charcuterie are just some of the products that will be promoted during the pork festival, sponsored by Glória & Silvestre and Conjunto Moderna.
Students from the cookery course at the Portimão Hotel and Tourism School will prepare a mega bean stew on Saturday, the last day of the festival, which can be sampled by everyone. The market will have extended opening hours during the weeklong event, on weekdays from 7am until 2pm and from 5pm until 8pm. It will also be open Saturday morning from 7am until 2pm.
